Amy Goldstein
Suite101.com Contributing Writer
Amy was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan but her current hometown is Wellington, New Zealand. After earning a B.A. in Economics and International Relations from Washington University in St. Louis, she moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina. What was intended to be an "extended vacation from life" quickly turned into a permanent residency. She lived in South America for over three years before deciding to start over again in New Zealand.
Amy's decision to move abroad is not surprising. When Amy was just nine years old, she lived with a French family for three weeks in Paris. Since then, she has traveled extensively through Western and Eastern Europe, North/Central America, Latin America and the Caribbean. In the past year alone, she has visited Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Honduras, Guatemala, the United States, England, France, and New Zealand. And she won't stop until she covers the whole world.
In Buenos Aires, Amy worked as a teacher of English language and literature. She also volunteered with Fundación Cimientos, an organization dedicated to providing quality education to underprivileged children throughout Argentina. Amy then spent nearly two years working for Idealist.org, as a member and later manager of the customer support and content team. Recently, she left her job to pursue her academic interests and extracurricular activities.
In addition to writing, traveling, and keeping up on current events, Amy adores visual and performing arts. She is a student of dance and singing, and enjoys drawing in her free time. Amy also practices yoga, runs, meditates, and depending on her proximity to water, scuba dives.
Amy is excited to share her experience, passion, and knowledge with Suite101 readers.
