I began teaching seventh-grade students in the fall of 1995. In the fall of 2000 I became an adjunct faculty member at a community college, as well. By day I taught 13-year-olds and by night I taught 19-year-olds, and many times the differences between the two groups of students were hard to find. Since then, I have begun writing the Great American Novel (at least my mom thinks it is), encountered some success in the world of freelance writing, and left the classroom in order to pursue my doctorate in education on a full-time basis. The dissertation is in full swing, and I'm hoping that 2009 brings graduation day my way.

I received my B.S. in Education from Illinois State University and my M.S. in Education from Northern Illinois University. Currently, I am back at NIU as a doctoral student in the Department of Teaching and Learning. I have written test items for numerous standardized tests with Riverside Publishing, had articles published in College Bound Teen and eLearning magazines, had several articles and columns published on various websites and had a poem published in the anthology Girlfriends Are the Best Friends of All.

When I'm not in front of my computer or with my nose in a book, I might be on a bike ride or run with my husband or a walk with our two Basset Hounds. My husband and I lead a pretty active lifestyle and our dogs, well, don't. But we're all a perfect fit, and when we're together with our friends and families, life is good!
