Amanda Ann Hamilton, freelance television writer, Elex Sy

Hello everyone! Welcome to My Suite!

My name is Amanda, and I am a 22-year-old journalist from New Hampshire. I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism in May 2008, and since then I have been picking up articles here and there as a freelancer and writing television recaps for a local paper's online entertainment section. When I was in college I mainly wrote for my school's newspaper, the Central Florida Future, but I also wrote for the Portsmouth Herald in Portsmouth, N.H. and for Orlando Home & Leisure magazine in Orlando, Fla. I interned for Seacoast Media Group in Portsmouth, N.H. and OHL.

I really stumbled in to television writing by chance and/or luck. I've been a television addict my entire life, yet I never thought I could make a living off of it. When I was in school I went through phases of what I wanted to write about. First, I wanted to be a relationship writer/advice columnist, but that became boring. Then, I wanted to be a sports writer, but only if I could write for my favorite team, the Boston Red Sox, because they were the only ones I knew anything about. Finally, when I left college, I was trying to become a food and travel writer. I think that would have worked out eventually, but one day someone came to me and asked me if I wanted to write some television recaps. Of course I said yes! The idea of watching TV in my pajamas, doing what I love and getting paid seemed like the greatest thing ever!

I still write recaps every week, and I have had some amazing opportunities because of it. A month or so ago I interviewed "Survivor" winner Bob Crowley, who is from my area, and last year I interviewed a local girl who was on the NBC reality show "The Baby Borrowers." I hope that great stories like that will continue to come, but I'm looking to branch out. I want people to be able to come to one spot to read about all the important things that happened during their favorite shows each week. I also want people to be able to find out what exciting things will be happening on the show and who will be coming and going. I guess I'm looking to write exactly what I would want to read.

I hope you will check out my site each week for “Days of Our Lives” recaps and to see what you missed and what’s coming up on your favorite reality and primetime shows.
