Contributing Writer

I am a gardener who writes garden columns. I write for the Mountain Xpress www.mountainx.com/garden, and sometimes I write occassional fiction www.wncwoman.com. I specialize in ornamentals and natives. I live in an area where plant species exceeds 2000 and the growing season and condtions are perfect for a variety of plants so I am blessed to grow what I write about. My husband is a forester so his job in our garden is primarily the trees (and vegetables) while I handle the rest. To his credit, he gives me landscaping privileges--i.e. I am the one to decide on the location of a new plant, but he tends to get the botany more so there are times when my choices are nixed due to potential improper placement needs of a plant. In other words, the plant won't like the where I want it to go. I am a twenty year veteran of plants and landscaping so my experience is vast. In the past three years I have turned that experience into writing and teaching for others.
