I am a full-time travel writer, and after spending five years seeing all of Australia and New Zealand, I'm now hitting Europe with a vengeance. In the last year I have:
- Learned to fire a cannon at the Saluting Battery in Valletta, Malta.
- Stroked a 5ft Nile Crocodile at the Kachikally Crocodile Pool in Bakau, The Gambia.
- Been wowed by the Mezquita in Cordoba, Andalucia, Spain.
- Hunted ghosts in Venice, Italy.
- Indulged in the Carolus Thermen Spa in Aachen, Germany.
- Tried to drink my way round the beers of the world in Brussels, Belgium.
I have also visited - and written about - Bonn and Cologne (Germany), Nottingham, London, Bognor Regis, Oxford and Stratford Upon Avon (England), Caerphilly, The Brecon Beacons, Caernarfon, Llangollen and Snowdonia (Wales) Amsterdam (The Netherlands), Syracuse, Catania, Turin and Treviso (Italy), Faro and Tavira (Portugal), Seville, Palos De La Frontera and Santiponce (Spain), Compiegne, Nancy and Metz (France), Luxembourg City (Luxembourg), the Sine-Saloum Delta (Senegal), and Basse Sante Su and Berending (Gambia). Features on all of these places are available to any editors who may be interested.
My next trips are to Spain and Eastern Europe. I hope to take in Madrid, Toledo, Avila, Segovia, Alcala De Henares, Trieste (Italy), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Zagreb (Croatia) and Lake Balaton in Hungary.
I have now been travel writing for seven years, and I contribute to numerous publications in Australia and the UK, as well as a couple in New Zealand and the US. I was The Guardian newspaper's student travel writer of the year in 2001, and I edited British Balls! backpacker magazine in Australia for four years. I am the feature writer for International Events on Suite101, although I contribute to other sections too.
