Alan Kotok ( http://www.technewslit.com ) is a free-lance writer on the subject of technology and business, and an unashamed inside-the-Beltway (Arlington, Va.) political junkie.

His day job involves directing technical development for a technology standards organization, but his real passion is news reporting and writing. Kotok writes for leading technology Web sites (CMP TechWeb, XML.Com) and has been contributing editor to Electronic Commerce World magazine. He has two books to his credit, on the impact of information technology on print media published in 1997, and a new book for New Riders Publishing, a Pearson imprint, covering emerging e-business standards, and published in the Fall of 2001.

When not working and writing, Kotok is an avid runner, taking part in marathon and middle-distance events. When on the Web he searches out the latest news and political scuttlebutt.
