Adrian Peel, Idalia Escobedo Perez

Adrian is an English freelance writer and journalist currently living in Mexico. Over the past five years, he has had work published in the UK, Mexico and the USA.

His professional writing career began in 2004 when he was offered a job writing concert reviews for the British website www.carlinglive.com. Over the next 12 months, he reviewed shows by, among others, Velvet Revolver, Audioslave, The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, The Hives and Keane.

In 2005, he began writing freelance for the Mexican popular music magazine La Mosca en la Pared, where his published work included: the story of 1980s 'Hair Metal', the influence of the Rolling Stones on Bon Jovi, and an interview with Shooter Jennings.

In 2007, he completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Magazine Journalism at Harlow College in Essex, England.

Six months after finishing college, he moved to Mexico and immediately started work on a book about the influence of Mexico, both musically and culturally, on country music. So far, he has interviewed 54 artists and songwriters for it, including: Ray Price, Bobby Bare, Clint Black, Hank III, Tracy Byrd, Flaco Jimenez, David Ball, Eddy Raven, Guy Clark, Gene Watson, Rick Treviño, James T. Slater, Gabe Garcia, George Ducas, Jessi Colter, David Lee Garza, Johnny Bush, Buddy Jewell, Holly Dunn, Kevin Fowler, Cory Morrow, Shawn Mayer, Robert Earl Keen, Dale Watson, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Ryan Bingham, John Arthur Martinez, Bobby Marquez, Brandon Rhyder, Tommy Alverson, Tom Russell and Gary P. Nunn.

An article he wrote on the subject of Mexico in country music appeared in the July 2008 issue of Texas-based Country Line Magazine. He then had a five-page feature on the different portrayals of Mexico in country music published in the April 2009 issue of British magazine Country Music People.

A piece on country artists of Mexican descent followed in May.

Other publications that have carried his work include UK country music magazine, Maverick and Mexican film magazine, 24 x Segundo. One of his articles for the latter dealt with his experiences working as an extra on films, TV programmes, music videos, commercials and internet virals over a four-year period.
