Austin has always considered himself a creative, inspired thinker. He enjoys writing poetry, short stories, and essays, and is an avid reader of all types of literature. He considers autodidacticism a highly pleasurable experience and hopes to help other people pursue their varied learning interests.
He is an avid runner. “I LOVE RUNNING.” To him, the New Balance commercial has no significance; there is no love-hate in this relationship. It’s all love, baby. In high school, he was on the cross country team and track team for all four years and was the team captain for the last two. He currently runs for the University of Oregon Running Club, located in the premier location for trackheads: Eugene OR aka “Tracktown, USA.”
Ever since he became enthralled with running, he has soaked his mind in as many articles and books about running as he can find. He has the honored and proven concepts of Lydiard, Daniels, Coe, Shorter, and Igloi to draw from – just to name a few – along with his own experience. Interval training, fartleks, hill-springing, you name it – he hopes to elucidate these concepts for you. He also regularly keeps himself up-to-date about the pro running scene.
He currently runs just about every day, and continually looks to improve himself. As a result, he constantly keeps himself in tune with the running world. He currently races mostly 5Ks and 10Ks. He hopes to help both new runners and experienced runners alike.
