You could say that I have always had a passion, a desire even, to write. In second grade my favorite class was "writer's workshop" and reading any book I could get my hands on. In Junior High I would clip pictures from newspapers and the JC Penny's catalog to find interesting people or things I wanted to write about. I eventually got to the point of writing short mysteries like my author idol Mary Higgins Clark and would share them with my friends at lunch as they argued over who the "real" villain was. In High School my interests grew to researching and writing papers regarding the medical field.
I graduated High School early and worked as an assistant manager at a movie theatre before attending a community college to start a certified nurse's assistant program. The theatre was an amazing place to work and I developed a passion for the art of cinema. I loved that movies were something that could bring even the most diverse group of people together.
I continued at the theatre while I received an advanced certificate in nurse assisting before going to work at a hospital as a cardiac/pulmonary nurse's tech in Des Moines, Iowa. I loved the positive interaction with patients and being able to help people with my knowledge in the medical field, as well as demonstrating care through compassion.
Today, I currently live in Los Angeles and am in the process of writing a screenplay, as well as contributing articles pertaining to health, film and the city of Los Angeles. With the vast library of information here at Suite101 I am pleased to be able to bring to you a compassionate side of healthcare, an avid writer and a movie critic that actually enjoys movies.
