Adair Jones is a writer from New York now living in Brisbane, Australia. She regularly contributes articles and reviews on literary subjects to publications internationally.

Over the past several years, her fiction has been highly commended and shortlisted, with The Book of Sand, a current project, winning first place in the Queensland Arts Council New Writers Scholarship in 2007. The prize offers a residency at Varuna Writers Retreat in the Blue Mountains (New South Wales), the purpose being to allow for several weeks of uninterrupted time to imagine, write, and confer with professionals.

Also in 2007, she signed with the Curtis-Brown Literary Agency. Publication of her novel, Flesh, which examines the effects of betrayal on a family, is forthcoming.

Adair has been vividly involved in Australian literary life, participating in festivals, moderating panels, contributing to newsletters, and encouraging young writers. She served as a Queensland Writers Centre management committee member in 2006 and 2007.

Holding a BA in English and Comparative Literatures and an MA in Linguistics, Adair is currently undertaking a PhD in Creative Writing and Cultural Studies at the Queensland University of Technology. Her recent work explores issues of culture, identity and contested landscapes in contemporary Australia.
