Amy Condra-Peters - Profile

While I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, Zoe, I was smugly confident in my ability to mother my baby. Caring for a child, nurturing in him or her a love of nature and the arts, giving myself to another human being-- these were endeavors I look forward to with blind enthusiasm. Then my daughter was born, and my former expectations were shattered. As I gazed at this new, shriveled, irate little person, as I gritted my teeth at the pain of sore nipples and struggled to function fueled by only two consecutive hours of sleep, I was humbled by the gritty reality of motherhood!

Now that I have added two more daughters to my brood, I continue to find motherhood to be a rewarding challenge. I am currently working from home, writing articles relating to parenting and travel. My husband and I are, respectively, Foregin Service and Marine Corps brats, so we have developed a love of travel and foreign cultures. We live in Falls Church, VA, with our three daughters, aged seven, four, and nineteen months, but are moving to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in Summer 1999. So, if readers would like to share their experiences in Vietnam, I would love to hear from you!
