Ashley is a 2009 graduate of Ashland University with a bachelor of arts degree in creative writing and journalism, with minors in political science and English literature. She is also author of House with a Secret Knock: A Memoir as her undergraduate creative writing thesis, a 235 page piece chronicling her experiences as a sorority woman and contextualizing the Greek community within the university environment. As a journalist, Ashley has contributed over fifty articles to Ashland University's student newspaper, The Collegian, in four years. Ashley also has documented a number of field work hours through Ashland University's Dwight Schar College of Education. In her spare time, Ashley also has started a blog project "The Year Spent PC," a blogging attempt to chronicle the first year following college graduation. Formatted similar to an ongoing feature article, "The Year Spent PC" promises nothing except a glimpse into the American life post college. Ashley can also be found on Twitter and Facebook in her spare time. Professional life aside, Ashley holds membership in the Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society and the Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society and was recognized with the "Who's Who Among Students in America's Colleges and Universities" award. Ashley also enjoys volunteering with the American Legion Auxiliary's Buckeye Girls State program as a floor mother and government advisor and with her college sorority, in addition to spending time on her family's farm. She is also working to complete her first full-length manuscript while searching for prospective graduate school programs to pursue a master's of education degree in higher education administration / college student personnel. |
