Deborah Cannon - Profile
<p>Deborah Cannon was born and raised in Vancouver where she received her BA in archaeology at the University of British Columbia. An archaeologist and scientific illustrator, her work took her from the West Coast to England, then to Toronto, and eventually to Tonga and Fiji. She obtained a Masters degree in Museum Studies at the University of Toronto before turning to writing fiction.</p>
<p>Her stories are based on her work as an archaeologist. Much of it is inspired by aboriginal myths and cultures. In the last few years she has used the Internet as a publishing and marketing tool. Her web site "Writing Bestsellers" at Suite101.com features author interviews and articles about the craft and business of writing.</p>
<p>She began her writing career with an illustrated manual published by SFU archaeology Press and from there contributed articles to the Canadian Journal of Archaeology, the Canadian Writer's Guide and Absolutewrite.com. Her short fiction appears at fictionwise.com and her debut thriller The Raven's Pool was published through Trafford.</p>
