Twila GodinezSuite101 Member I live in a small town in Southern Illinois. I graduated from Southern Illinois University in 1996 with a Bachelor's degree in Education. I hold a double major in Elementary and Spanish education. I taught high school Spanish a couple of years ago due to another teacher taking a leave of absence. I currently am a stay-at-home Mom to a beautiful baby, Isaac (born November 1999). I try to make a little spending money by using the Internet. I am married to Isaias Godinez who originally comes from Mexico. I took four years of Spanish in high school. I met my husband during my Junior year of high school, from that time my Spanish language skills grew every day. I continued studying Spanish in college, and decided to teach Spanish at the high school level. I have traveled several times to Mexico, two time we stayed for a month. I enjoy listening to Spanish music and watching telenovelas (soap operas) on TV. Besides Spanish, I have numerous other interests. I have several pets which keep me busy! I have a German Shephard who I am trying to train for dog obedience, and a Paint horse that is just broke to ride. I also have another dog, a cat, and a cockatiel. I enjoy sewing. I especially like to quilt (although I'm just learning). Recently, my new passion is for computers. I've taken classes at ZDU to increase my skills. I used to work during the day watching stock market quotes using the internet, so computers have become an important part of my life. During my year of teaching, I helped the Spanish club raise enough money to buy a computer. Later, one of my students approached me about creating a web page for the club. Although we didn't get it done, I decided to make my own web page. My student taught me HTML and I scripted my first web page. I enjoy learning new things and am eager to start programming. I enjoy writing for Suite101.com because it is a place where I can meet other people intereseted in my topic. I also enjoy helping other people as they learn more about the Spanish language and culture. |
