I'm a 27-year-old Sign Language Researcher based in Kigali, Rwanda (British ex-pat). I have an MA in Language & Communication Research and have spent my entire academic and professional working life in the field of Deaf culture and Sign Language.
Previously I have worked as a PR Officer for a British NGO and have published work in British Deaf News. I have also written for national alternative religion magazines such as Pagan Dawn and Pentacle. I have a strong interest and background in 'alternative' faiths from Spiritualism, Paganism and the Occult to mainstream religions such as Buddhism and Hinduism.
I also write travel articles for a locally-based community newsletter and have travelled extensively in Europe, Australia and East Africa.
As well as magazine and academic articles, I also love to write film and stage scripts and have collaborated with a number of emerging amateur film-makers on shorts. I am currently collaborating on a political piece against the 'sex for grades' mentality in some schools - hoping to enter it in next year's Amakula and Rwandan film festivals. I also write poetry and fiction in a number of genres.
I am always interested in new article ideas and in collaborations and small projects. Please get in touch.
