Sumaira Shaikh is a journalist based in Toronto, Canada. She has written for the Canadian Islamic Congress, the National Post, the East Toronto Observer and freelanced for organizations across North America and the Middle East. She has engaged in coverage of issues such as terrorism, the war in Iraq and the general foreign and domestic policy shift in the world post-September 11. She has travelled across North America, Europe and Asia, bringing to journalism a viewpoint that is well-nourished with different perspectives. She is currently an active member of the United Nations Association in Canada as well as a coordinator for the Books for Africa drive at the University of Toronto.
