Jane Hollis - Profile

I have always been passionate about gardening, being part of a winning school team in a national gardening competition whilst at primary school, and I have studied garden design at Hadlow College. I live with my husband and young daughter in a 1850s cottage in East Sussex, England, where I have spent the last five years making a small English Country Garden out of a wasteland. I am particularly interested in garden design and planting design and choosing plants and materials which suit the garden location, which is reflected in my articles on English Country Gardening. You can also view my photos of seasonal flower pics in the Flower Gallery.

My other passion in life is horses and I have had many articles published in the British equestrian press. At home I keep a 7/8 thoroughbred mare, called Chance, her foal Woodland Sprite (by the Connemara stallion 'Hovholmens Golden Flash') and a Welsh Mountain pony called Melly. I also compete (in dressage and jumping) with my father's Irish Draught cross Thoroughbred gelding, Big Bad Baz.
