<p>I was born and raised in a small city in Northern Ontario, Canada. I completed my secondary education and got married at the age of 18 to Ed, and we had two sons. That was nearly 30 years ago.</p> <p>In 1979 I was diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder and since then have educated myself about the illness, and attempted to educate others. I believe that education is the key to reducing the inherent stigma related to mental illness. For three years I edited a bi monthly newsletter for the local Bipolar Support Group and have read anything I could find on the subject on mental illness.</p> <p>I enjoy crocheting and have had many of my crochet designs published since 1986. I also enjoy my computer and spend at least a couple of hours every day on the internet. I try to get out to walk every day and play tennis for exercise (meaning I run around the court chasing the tennis ball!)</p> <p>I surfed on to Suite 101 a couple of months ago looking for the best of the best web sites...and am happy to say I found them.</p>
