Carrie is a freelance writer who operates her business, Comprehensive Communications and has written for a wide variety of organizations and in the print media. Due to her experience in the childcare industry and writing for Suite101 as Daycare Feature Writer, her business specializes in creating communication plans and business documents for childcare centers.
Recently she was a staff writer for Kalamazoo Weekly Newspaper-- an alternative newspaper covering Kalamazoo County, Michigan. While with KWN Carrie was honored to be chosen to cover former President Gerald R. Ford's State Funeral in Grand Rapids, Michigan for KWN. Additionally, she covered a wide variety of general interest articles, edited the events calendar for a time and wrote numerous movie and theater reviews.
Putting her skills into volunteer service is also of vital importance to Carrie. She has done marketing writing for International Aid's Christian Alliance for Nurses-- a non-profit organization that provides medical aid to countries in need. She has also written (in collaboration with recording artist Rebekah Rhys and another writer) a play that was performed on Christmas Eve at The River Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan in 2004.
Carrie graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in English with a Practical Writing Emphasis and a minor in Philosophy and is a member of Sigma Tau Delta-- the International English Honors Society. She enjoys photography, history, cooking, wall-climbing, hiking, movies, jewelry and soap-making, scrapbooking and her newest hobby-- geocaching.
