Home is the South Shore area of Nova Scotia, Canada, where I live with my wife Dee and at present four dogs and one cat. I've been around long enough and have enough gray hair to rarely bother with educational details...if asked I usually say I have a B.A. in General Knowledge and a Masters in Common Sense. However, to deal with the twinges of a mid life crisis I did go back to school to get a professional qualification in business administration. We are English by birth and moved to Canada in 1984 after spending 3 years in Tenerife, The Canary Islands (Spanish Territory), where we were unsuccessful in trying to introduce desktop computers to the natives. I have been hooked on computers since my first contact with one in 1966. This came about not by tripping over a Desktop, but walking into the side of a 32K Univac 9300. This was the leading edge of technology at the time and an example of the true meaning of the expression "apartment sized". Either full or part time I have been involved with computers ever since. Suite101 has been an important part of both my personal and professional virtual life on the Internet. The community provided me in the past with my own outlet for my particular interest in whatever revolves around the world of Freeware programs. In addition, it allowed me over the years the opportunity to progress through the ranks of Contributing Editor, Managing Editor, and Senior Managing Editor. |
