Growing up on White Bear Lake, a northern lake in a suburb of Saint Paul, MN, I've always had a passion for sailing. Ever since my father let me crash into the dock learning how to land a x-boat, I've been enamored with the sport. I sailed through middle school, high school and college. I sailed recreationally, competitively, and even taught the sport to many, many children and adults who were eager to get out on the water. And some who weren't so eager! I know I'll be sailing my way through the rest of my life. Somehow, despite all my time on the water, I found time to squeeze in some writing, music, tennis, squash, skiing, and other activities. Along the way I picked up a BA in Psychology from Wellesley College in Massachusetts, and a MA in Music with an emphasis in Music Therapy from the University of Minnesota. I'm quickly approaching 30, (the big day is only months away now...) and I feel the years slipping away from me as I think about all the sailing I have yet to do. I only hope I'll be able to accomplish one major thing in the upcoming years of my life. I hope to be able to instill a love of the water, and a love of sailing, in my three year little girl, and five month old little boy. If I can do that, I've been a successful sailor. Surfing and sailing are widely different sports, but by surfing on the Internet, I've discovered some wonderful information and resources about sailing on the water. I've been surfing on the 'net for a fraction of the time I've been sailing on the water, but I've probably logged just about the same amount of hours on my computer and sailboats! I'm looking forward to logging many more, on water and on line, in the years ahead. |
