Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder can affect anyone at an age, with signs often appearing within 3 months of a traumatic event.

Such events may include experiencing or witnessing physical, sexual or emotional abuse; military combat; natural disasters; hostage situations; violent or life-threatening attacks; real or threatened death; and other traumatic events.

Recent studies have shown that it is not only humans who experience PTSD symptoms from such traumatic events; trained war dogs have also exhibited severe symptoms.

Those experiencing the traumatic event often relive the event in various ways, causing additional stress and anxiety with feelings of intense fear.

Here you will find information on dealing with symptoms and helping loved ones. Comments, questions and suggestions are always welcome.
