Random Thoughts II – Growing Time! Here we are poised on the spring of another year. What better time than now to think about a fresh start - a new way of looking at things. All throughout the year, I collect quotes. I have reviewed my files and found some worth passing on. I have to say that I really love a good quote. It is amazing to me when folks can speak volumes with just a few words. I find them handy to have on my mind - as if they are a kind of shorthand - crib notes if you will for handling those difficult days in our lives. As I reviewed them I noticed a pattern. It seems I am drawn to quotes on the topics of perseverance, growth and/or insight, and patience. For your convenience, I am loosely grouping them that way. I hope that you find some of these useful as you navigate your way through the year. There is a lot here to think about, so you may find it useful to pick a few that motivate or capture your attention and put them up on your computer, car dashboard, bathroom mirror or the door you use most frequently. Just scatter them, like seeds, wherever you can and read them frequently. I hope you will share them with your children. I strongly believe it is never too early to give your child the tools they will need to handle life's array of challenges. I think of these quotes as tools, and I keep them in my mental toolbox, pulling them out and using them when need be. It is my wish for you that you find these quotes useful. I hope you find they re-ignite your passion for life and help you grow. Perseverance: "Whenever you fall, pick something up." Oswald Avery "Achievement seems to be connected with action. Successful men and women keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don't quit." Conrad Hilton "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." Nelson Mandela "Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat." F. Scott Fitzgerald "The drops of rain make a hole in the stone not by violence, but by oft falling." Lucretius "He who is outside the door has already got a good part of his journey behind him." Dutch proverb "Fall seven times, stand up eight." Japanese proverb "If you are going through hell, keep going." Winston Churchill Growth and Insight: "The mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work unless it's open." Unknown
