Insert Text Here

Reporters and editors who are on a job hunt -- or looking for just about anything else related to journalism -- should add Insert Text Here ( http://www.inserttexthere.com ) to their bookmarks.

The site is operated by Michelle Nicolosi, a free-lance writer who won a Pulitzer Prize for a series she co-wrote at the Orange County Register in 1995. Her work has also appeared in The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times and Salon, among other places.

I've seen a link to her journalism site at quite a few spots on the Web, but until recently, I hadn't checked it out at much depth. I'm glad I did.

Insert Text offers one of the best listings of journalism job banks I've encountered. You'll find a couple of dozen general sites, plus diversity job sites, regional job sites, corporate job sites and specialty job sites. If you happen to be a medical reporter, you'll be particularly interested in the listings here.

In addition to the job banks, you'll find postings for specific job openings and for upcoming journalism conferences. Nicolosi updates the information at least every few days.

Insert Text also includes a good round-up of media news sites (including one for Europe), reference guides, and resources for student journalists. Other valuable features include highlights from PersonalReader.com's Media News Digest and a good collection of journalism books available at Amazon.com.

For kicks, also be sure to check out the "miscellany" listings. Among other things, you'll find links to the timeless wisdom of Jack Handy and the friendly services of Spam Buster.
