Scoop for the Week of February 9th
Survivor Rigged? There's a reason the current TV phenomenon is called a "reality show." Stacey Stillman says that's not the case, though. She's the attorney from San Francisco who was booted off the original Survivor. She claims the show's creator, Mark Burnett, persuaded her fellow tribe mates - Dirk Been and Sean Kenniff - to vote her off instead of 72-year-old Rudy Boesch. According to Stacey, Mark was worried about losing older viewers if the first three castaways to get the boot were senior citizens. She filed a 14-page lawsuit against CBS Corp. and Burnett. So why wait until now to come forward with the lawsuit? Perhaps Stacey was holding out for Survivor 2. She threatened a lawsuit last year if CBS didn't put her on another reality-based show. When they didn't, she sued. Stacey's suing for alleged breach of contract, fraud, unlawful business practices, lost prize money and $75,000 punitive damages. Berry Married Halle Berry's launch of her official Web site, Hallewood, became the launch of open mouths at her shocking announcement. As she introduced the musical entertainment for the evening she said, "Who better to perform than my husband." Eric Benet, a jazz musician, and Halle tied the knot two weeks ago. They still won't disclose the location of their nuptials but say it was "exotic." Halle says she's keeping the secret in case she has to pull this off again. She's no stranger to secrets either. Eric popped the question in August 1999. But Halle was tight-lipped about their engagement until December of that same year. And Halle's still wearing a media-inflicted wound from the coverage of her hit-and-run accident last year. She was fined $13,500 and received three years probation. This is Halle's second marriage. She was previously married to Yankees outfielder David Justice. That marriage ended after four years with both sides suing for financial support.
