Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Although Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is classified as an Anxiety Disorder, the subject deserves its own category. Not to be confused with Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder, OCD is characterized by recurrent obsessions (persistent thoughts or ideas) and/or compulsions (repetitive behaviors).

While the person recognizes the obsessions or compulsions as excessive, with the exception of children, the individual is unable to control them.

Whether a diagnosed disorder or a set of symptoms, this section offers insight, suggestions and help for those affected by obsessions and compulsions. Parents, teachers and caregivers will also find information on working with children exhibiting these behaviors.

Questions, comments and suggestions are always welcome.
