The 7th season of 'So You Think You Can Dance' (SYTYCD) continued with four girls and six guys competing for the title of America's favorite dancer.

In last week's elimination episode, contemporary dancer Alexie Agdeppa was in the bottom three after America's vote, and she was sent home by the judges. This week, the remaining 10 competitors will once again dance with 10 of the SYTYCD All-Stars.

The Top 10 performance episode aired Wednesday, June 23, 2010, on the Fox network. The elimination episode, after the tally of America's votes, will air tonight, Thursday, June 24.

The Judges Return to Critique the Performances

As with last week's first live episode, the judges will once again critique each performance. The audience at home will call-in to vote for their favorite dancer. The judges are choreographer and director Adam Shankman, Emmy award-winning choreographer Mia Michaels, and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe. Hosting is Cat Deeley.

This week's difference is that the All-Star dancers will remain onstage with the competitors to hear the judges' comments. Last week they left the stage at the end of their performance.

The Top 10 Dancers Perform

The first competitor is latin ballroom dancer Cristina Santana, with Pash Kovalev. They perform a Jean-Marc Genereux and France Mousseau Paso Doble routine to "Ira Deorum/Sanctus" by James Dooley. While the judges enjoyed the piece, Cristina could have added a little more power in the lifts and energy in the staccato movement of the style.

Second is contemporary dancer AdeChike Torbert, with Allison Holker. They perform a Mandy Moore contemporary piece to "Listen to Your Heart" by DHT (Edmee's Unplugged Vocal Edit). Allison somewhat outdanced AdeChike in this routine, but the judges believe that he improved over last week. Mia is unhappy with the fake-looking smiles in the piece.

Next is ballet dancer Alex Wong, with Lauren Gottlieb. They perform a Tyce DiOrio Broadway piece to "Summertime" by Sylvester. The judges are critical of Alex, perhaps because of the amazing contemporary piece he performed last week. Nigel comments that Alex sometimes dances with his shoulders up, which gives off a tense performance.

The fourth competitor is contemporary dancer Ashley Galvan, with Mark Kanemura. They perform a Travis Wall jazz routine to "Wonderful" by Annie Lennox. The judges are actually more critical of the choreography than the performance, citing that Travis created more of a contemporary piece than a jazz piece. However, Ashley danced it well.

The fifth couple is contemporary dancer Billy Bell and Comfort Fedoke. They perform a Li'l C krump piece to "So U Think U Can Krump" by Tha J-Squad. Mia calls Billy "Billy B Wack", and he is obviously not familiar with this hard-hitting style. He seems to lose energy by the end of the piece, but possibly did the best that he could.

Next is contemporary dancer Robert Roldan, with Anya Garnis. They perform a Jean-Marc Genereux and France Mousseau Argentine Tango to "Libertango" by Bond. Mia feels that Robert was a little robotic in his movements compared to Anya, but Nigel enjoyed the piece and thinks that Robert stepped up to Anya's maturity level well.

Seventh is tap dancer Melinda Sullivan with Ade Obayomi. They perform a Stacey Tookey contemporary routine to "Squander" by Skunk Anansie. The judges are happy with the performance, but Melinda has some trouble performing to the fullest in styles that are not her own, and does not move as well across the stage as Ade.

The eighth couple is street dancer Jose Ruiz, with Kathryn McCormick. They perform a Nakul Dev Mahajan Bollywood piece to "Marjaani Marjaani Kasama" from the Billu soundtrack. While Jose's technique may have been sloppy, and Kathryn may have outdanced him, the judges feel that this performance was still entertaining.

Next is contemporary dancer Lauren Froderman, with Dominic Sandoval. They perform a Tessandra Chavez hip hop routine to "If I Were a Boy" by Beyonce. The judges think that Lauren was impressive in this dance, but could have showed more expression of emotion throughout the piece. They do feel that she improved over last week.

The final competitor is contemporary dancer Kent Boyd with Courtney Galiano. They perform a Tyce DiOrio jazz piece to "Amy Amy Amy" by Amy Winehouse. The judges think that Courtney outdanced Kent, and they would have wanted to see more from him, since this is somewhat closer to his style than some of the other competitors faced this week. Mia advises Kent to try to get more into the character of each piece.

America Votes for their Favorite Dancer

Cat reminds the audience to call and vote for their favorite dancer. In the next episode, Thursday, June 24, 2010, at 9am EST on Fox, the bottom dancers will be revealed. Those in the bottom three will need to "dance for their lives", performing a solo in their own style. At the end of the episode, the judges will decide which dancer will be leaving the competition.

The summary of the judges' critiques does not reveal enough. Why not mention the emotional content of Lauren's performance and the "acting" comment by Adam? Or Kent's endearing responses to Cat about his sexiness? Very dry overall.

"Guest", thank you for your comment! And I must say I absolutely agree with you. With a word limit of 800 to be able to submit my SYTYCD articles to Google News, it doesn't give me much room to elaborate on the judges remarks and add in audience perspectives. I try to get all the facts about the show into my article. Luckily (for me - not them), as the number of contestants starts dwindling, I'll be able to add in more details. Thanks again for your comment!
