On the July 26 2010 Raw, John Cena opened the show and related the history of how The Nexus began destroying the WWE and him. But he said now the Raw Superstars were fighting back, and would end Nexus at SummerSlam. Cena said if Nexus were given any more power, it could be the end of Raw.
Chris Jericho Confronts John Cena About the Raw SummerSlam Team
Chris Jericho told Cena that he didn’t join Cena’s SummerSlam team because he had seen the light. He got involved because of his problems with Nexus, especially Wade Barrett. Jericho said he was more qualified to lead the Raw team against Nexus than Cena. Cena told Jericho that they had to work together to save the wrestling business from Nexus. Cena called Jericho essential to the Raw team.
Jericho said that Cena was more like the Nexus than he realized. He interrupts people and does what he wants, only the fans support him. Jericho said after Nexus is taken care of, he would go after Cena. Cena challenged him to take his best shot, but Michael Cole interrupted with a Raw GM announcement.
Cole announced that the SummerSlam match between Raw and Nexus would be an Elimination Match, and whichever team eliminated the other team first would win. Cole announced that there would be a preview Elimination Match that night on Raw. The words from the GM, “If you’re not down with that, I’ve got two words for you,” strongly suggested that Shawn Michaels was the GM.
Jey Uso vs. Randy Orton; The Miz Tries to Cash in Money in the Bank
Jey Uso faced Randy Orton in a match with Sheamus on commentary. Orton easily defeated Uso after a short match. Jimmy Uso attacked Orton, but Orton fought back. Sheamus accidentally kicked Uso and Orton hit Sheamus with an RKO. The Miz came out to cash in his Money in the Bank contract, but Orton RKO’d him before the match could start.
The Great Khali vs. Edge
Edge told Ted DiBiase that The Great Khali wouldn’t be an asset to the Raw team, and said he would take Khali out if Cena didn’t replace him with DiBiase. Ranjin Singh told Khali what Edge said, so he challenged Edge to a match that night. Edge said if he won, Khali would be off Raw’s SummerSlam team. Khali dominated Edge until Nexus came to the ring and surrounded Khali, then let him leave.
The Nexus vs. Mark Henry, Yoshi Tatsu, Goldust, Jerry Lawler, Hart Dynasty & Evan Bourne
A fourteen-man Elimination Match took place between The Nexus and Mark Henry, Yoshi Tatsu, Goldust, Jerry “The King” Lawler, Hart Dynasty and Evan Bourne. Michael Tarver eliminated Tatsu. Heath Slater eliminated David Hart Smith and Jerry Lawler. David Otunga eliminated Goldust. Skip Sheffield eliminated Mark Henry. Darren Young eliminated Tyson Kidd.
Wade Barrett eliminated Bourne for the win. Nexus attacked Bourne and left him lying. Barrett said Nexus was behind a common purpose and the Raw team was already starting to crack, and they would destroy themselves. Tarver said Nexus would tear Cena apart and put him out of his misery.
John Morrison vs. Ted DiBiase
John Morrison and Ted DiBiase had a match, with R-Truth commentating. DiBiase got Morrison into a corner and stomped and hit him. Ted got John in a chinlock but Morrison fought back with hits, kicks and a clothesline. DiBiase regrouped with help from Maryse and went for a pin but R-Truth knocked DiBiase’s feet off the ropes. DiBiase got Morrison with a drop toehold for the win. Truth and Morrison began arguing after the match.
John Cena and Chris Jericho vs. The Miz and Sheamus
Miz and Sheamus teamed against Jericho and Cena. Miz and Cena started the match. Cena hit Miz with a bulldog and Miz left the ring. Miz tagged in Sheamus and Sheamus got Cena in a headlock. Cena powered out and hit Sheamus with a shoulder block. Cena tagged in Jericho and he and Sheamus traded blows. Jericho nailed Sheamus with a dropkick and a boot to the neck.
Cena tagged in during the commercial break and Sheamus clotheslined him. Sheamus tagged in Miz, who fought Cena but Cena got him with a fisherman’s suplex. Jericho tagged in and tried to get Miz in the Walls of Jericho but Sheamus interfered. Miz booted Jericho several times until Sheamus tagged in. Miz choked Jericho while the referee wasn’t looking, then Sheamus clotheslined Jericho.
The Miz and Sheamus Defeat John Cena and Chris Jericho
Sheamus got Jericho in a submission hold but Jericho powered out. Sheamus hit Y2J with the Irish Curse. He went for a pin but Jericho kicked out. Miz tagged in and stomped Jericho. Miz got him hung up over the ropes and tried for a pin but Jericho grabbed the rope.
Jericho hit Miz with a dropkick. Sheamus tagged in and got Jericho in a camel clutch but Jericho fought out of it. Miz tagged in and pummeled Y2J in the corner. Miz tried to run into Jericho but he moved out of the way and tagged in Cena. Miz tagged in Sheamus.
Cena hit Sheamus with shoulder blocks, a slam, and the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Miz distracted the referee and Jericho hit Cena with the Codebreaker. Miz pinned Cena for the win. Jericho got Cena in the Walls of Jericho but Cena reversed it into the STF. Khali pulled Cena off Jericho and Edge hit Khali with a spear. The rest of the Raw team came out to argue, push and shove each other to end the show.
