The latest installment of the Predator thrillers, which first came to the big screen in 1987, has hit the big screen again in 2010 with Predators. Spoilers!

The movie Predators came out in theaters on Friday, July 10, 2010 complete with all of the expected thrills and kills of the last four films in which the deadly creatures were featured. Although it lacked any significant character development, the acting, special effects, and sets seemed to please audiences, getting Predators a decent rating with viewers.

Actress and Actors in Predators

The film begins with the cast being dropped in one-by-one via parachute to an unknown island. As they struggle with the determination of each others' identities, they are forced to work together quickly as the predators quickly become award of their arrival and the games begin.

Among three, North American men; Adrien Brody, a mercenary; Topher Grace, a doctor; and Walton Goggins, a serial rapist and murderer, are Oleg Taktarov, Russian special operative; Danny Trejo, Mexican cartel enforcer; Louis Ozawa Changchien, Japanese Yakuza; Mahershalalhashbaz Ali, African death squad member; and the token female, Alice Braga, Israeli sniper. A special addition to the cast is Laurence Fishburne who offers a stellar performance as a slightly insane, long-time survivor on the planet who inevitably turns on the group.

Just as when they arrive, the actors leave the film one-by-one as they are picked off by the predators. The first to meet his demise is Trejo, followed soon after by Ali and then Taktarov. In a surprising turn, Goggins sacrifices himself for the welfare of the group as they flee from the trap Fishburne set for them. He inevitably meets his death, but not before getting a few good hits of his own in against the deadly predator.

Next to leave the film, in what is perhaps the best scene of the entire show, is Changchien. In what comes across as an equal dual, Changchien matches one of the predators blow for blow in an all out sword fight. Both man and alien fight to their deaths. The last to die is Grace, after the shocking revalation that, although a doctor, he is also a serial killer. Not surprisingly, Brodie and Braga survive the epic hunt.

Social Message in Predators

From the very beginning of the film, the audience wonders at the connection between the eight cast members. With the characters wondering the same thing, why they were the ones chosen to be dropped on the planet together, the answer is quite eye-opening when it is revealed.

It is the lone woman in the film, Alice Braga, who finally comes to the accurate conclusion. Each of the seven men and herself can all be considered to be human predators. They kill other human beings because they want to, not because they have to. In short, they are the monsters of the human world, and have been sent to do battle with the monsters of the alien world, the predators.

Despite the seeming lack of conscience in every member of the group, Brodie creates an exception to Braga's analysis when he returns from his plight of escape to save her. From that point on, the sexual tension that occurs between the two of them from the beginning of the movie, turns into a love story, hinting at hope for the future at the end of the film.

Predators Movie Ratings

On the Internet Movie Database, as of July 11, 2010, Predators has received a veiwer rating of 7.5 stars out of a possible 10. That rating is based on just shy of 5000 votes. Rotten Tomatoes reviewed Predators at 5.8 out of 10 after 128 votes.

Predators is said to be the best of the sequels thus far released. It is bloody, action-packed, and far from cheesy. The special effects, sets, costumes, and acting all work together to make this movie worth the watch.

Hi Guests - I am sorry to have disappointed you all, but I specifically put the word "Spoilers!" in the summary introduction so readers would be aware of the fact that I divulged events in the film. I made comments on the acting, my favorite scene, and provided other reviews with recommendations at the end of the article. I am unsure as to what else you all wanted.
Thank you for reading none-the-less.

Thank you for the well-written article. I like to read synopsis+review articles such as your own after I watch a movie. It helps me reflect on my own feelings about the movie, and it also serves as a wonderful tool for parents of children interested seeing such movies. I hope to read more from you soon.
