Stand-up comedian and WTF podcast host Marc Maron starts his 3-night run at San Francisco’s The Purple Onion on May 10, 2010. Maron has appeared frequently on The Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O’Brien. In fact, he appeared on O’Brien’s show more often than any other standup comic. Earlier this year, he appeared on John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show on Comedy Central.

Maron continues to perform standup on the road, and he will be making his first appearance at the historically-significant venue, The Purple Onion in San Francisco. “I just wanted to feel what The Purple Onion felt like, and also try to put some stuff together and work through some things are that are sort of up on the anvil right now,” says Maron.
“It’ll be just kind of low-key; see what comes and see what happens. Steve Pearl is going to be opening for me one night, and Kyle Kinane is going to open one night.”
“I’m looking forward to it, because for the last few years I have not been on the road a lot, because I’ve been sort of marginalized by mainstream comedy clubs. San Francisco I’m really excited about. It’s a little short notice, but I’m just trying to put together some material for maybe a new CD, and also I’m going to London at end of July.”
WTF Podcast Brings New Fans to Maron’s Stand-Up
After several years hosting shows on Air America (Morning Sedition, Breakroom Live, The Marc Maron Show), Maron began WTF, his successful comedy podcast, in 2009.
“One thing that the podcast has done for me is brought people back around to realizing that I’m still kind of relevant as a comic, and also to know that I’m still out there,” says Maron. “There are a lot of new fans. People are coming out, and they’re very dedicated to the podcast.”
