Narcissistic Personality
Narcissistic Personality
Narcissistic Personality is often confused with Histrionic, Antisocial and Borderline Personality Disorders. Although there are similarities, the distinguishing feature of Narcissistic Personality Disorder is the grandiose sense of self-importance and arrogant behaviors and attitudes.
Additional characteristics include the need for excessive admiration, feeling a sense of entitlement, a tendency to be superficial and exploitative, feelings of envy or superiority and lacks empathy for others.
Adolescents often exhibit narcissistic traits, but do not necessarily go on to develop Narcissistic Personality Disorder. This section offers information on all aspects of narcissism – dealing with adolescent children, working with co-workers, living with family members, community support and treatment options.
