Myths

Myths are not limited to the gods and godesses of ancient Greece and Rome. Every people, every culture has sought to explain the world around them through storytelling. When children learn about the animals of the Chinese zodiac, feel the power of the Egyptian goddess Isis, explore native beliefs in the myths of North and Latin America, and meet Norse gods in Neil Gaiman's "Odd and the Frost Giants," they are given a window to many different cultures. And through that window, they view not otherness, but a remarkable similarity. Every culture sought to explain the same phenomena -- earth's creation, the power of nature, and the mystery of life and death.
