Lesson 2: The Writing Process
Writing Your Draft
In this step you will start to get your ideas on paper. Don't worry too much about spelling or how things sound - you will make adjustments in the next phase of the process. For now, just concentrate on writing. One good idea in the drafting stage is to skip every other line when you are writing. That will give you lots of extra room to make changes in the later stages. Use the brainstorming web or list that you made to be sure you include all of the important details. Think about the order of the information as you write. You will want to write a good introduction and build your story or paper in a logical order. We will look at the different elements of different types of writing in the next chapters. But no matter what you choose to write about, or the type of writing you are doing, you always need to write a first draft to get your ideas organized and written down.
