Saving Money & Wasting Less

Lesson 5: Getting around

Lesson Questions

  1. How well do you know your neighbours? Do you know them as well as your parents knew their neighbours?
  2. Have you thought about your car? If you have one and are convinced you need one, why? When did you last use public transport?
  3. Do you spend a lot of money on clothes and shoes? What are some other ways you could save money on these?
  4. Can you think of other ways to entertain yourself or your family sometimes, without relying on technology to entertain you?
  5. If you feel the need to have things just because others have them, or because it's 'the latest thing', try memorising this from 'Walden' by Henry David Thoreau:
Ïf a man does not keep pace with his companions,
perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer.
Let him step to the music which he hears,
    however measured, or far away.
