Lesson 4: Just for Fun Books

Have you ever thought about writing or illustrating books? Many people write and illustrate books for big publishing companies. They enjoy spending their time writing stories and drawing pictures for children to enjoy. How would you like to create a book of your very own? Here's how:

What you will need:

* 6 sheets lined binder paper

* 6 sheets blank binder paper

* markers, crayons, paints or pencil crayons

* an eraser in case of mistakes

* colored yarn or string

* lots of imagination

What to do:

Alternate the sheets of paper. (one lined, one blank)

Insert the yarn or string through the holes of the paper and tie.

Begin writing a story on the lined paper. (You will need to think about this, as the story is going to be quite long)

Draw pictures that show something about what you have written on the blank pieces of paper. (These are called illustrations)

This can be a work in progress. That means that you can continue working on it until you have completed it to your satisfaction. This could take months or years. If you need more paper, just untie the yarn or string and add a few sheets.
