Young Adult Books
By Mary M. AlwardLesson 3: Books That Encourage
We all need a little encouragement now and then. There are no exceptions. Without it, we won't reach our full potential. Within this lesson, I am going to introduce you to books that will encourage you to take chances, and experiment with the things around you. Enjoy!
Attention Parents and Homeschoolers
If your child is struggling with a school subject, social problem, low self esteem, or a social issue such as bullying, a good way to encourage him is to buy him a book.
Books deal with a wide scope of problems. For instance, if your child is always making mistakes and is discouraged, Charlotte Jones' book, Mistakes That Work, would give him encouragement. Another good book on this subject is Accidents May Happen, also by Charlotte Jones.
If your child wants to be an inventor, but hasn't been successful, he might enjoy reading, So You Want to be An Inventor, by Judith St. George.
On the other hand, your child might be struggling with a social issue, such as bullying. If so, Alley Oops! by Janice Levy will give him a positive look at this issue that is very prevalent in today's society.
Whatever your child's needs, there is a great book for him in the local library or bookstore. Let's take a more thorough look at the books that I've mentioned in section two of this lesson
