Lesson 2: Stars and Space

In this lesson, we are going to look at some great books about stars and space.

Attention Parents and Homeschoolers

Do you know how to choose a great book on Space and Stars? Let me give you a few pointers.

1. Look for accuracy. You don't want to buy a book that teaches things that are incorrect.

2. Look for well written explanations that the child will understand.

3. Look for facts that compare to things the child is familiar with.

4. Look for quotes by experts that will help the child understand the subject matter.

5. The book should include good grammar and bright and attractive illustrations. These should also be useful and accurate.

6. Be sure the book is within the child's reading level. There is nothing worse than giving a child a book that is way beyond his level. This only causes the child to become frustrated and discouraged.

If you follow this advice your child will have a positive reading experience, which will encourage him to read more books on the subjects he loves.
