Lesson 1: Introducing The Lord of the Rings
The first lesson introduces Tolkien, Middle-earth and The Lord of the Rings (LOTR) -- the places, people and events. It then moves to an introduction to filming and broadcasting LOTR, from the BBC radio adaptation to Ralph Bakshi's animation. The context is then established to discuss the development and shooting of the Jackson trilogy.
