Websites: The following websites offer information, articles, supplies, and services to homeschooling families.

  • John Holt and Growing Without Schooling, http://www.holtgws.com/index.html John Holt, unschooling advocate and author of numerous books on learning, started the newsletter, Growing Without Schooling, which ran from 1977 until 2001. This website provides unschooling information and resources including books, articles, GWS archives, and information about personal and business consultations, advocate speaking schedules, presentations, and seminars.
  • Sandra Dodd - Radical Unschooling, http://sandradodd.com/unschooling.html Unschooling advocate and mother, Sandra Dodd, offers articles written by herself and others and information on unschooling and life including articles on attachment parenting, college, deschooling, reading, technology (television and video games), games, and much more.
  • Unschooling.com, http://unschooling.com/ This site provides unschooling essays, articles, FAQs, networking, and supply resources. The networking resources include message boards, a free online newsletter, an email list, and a directory of support groups and associations. The resources section contains links to books, tools, and state laws.

  • The Natural Child Project - Learning, http://www.naturalchild.com/articles/lea... ‘Resources for caring parents.’ This site provides articles on learning with an emphasis on unschooling, and a list of books on learning. The main area of the website offers articles and resources on natural parenting.
  • Learn in Freedom, http://learninfreedom.org/ This website about taking responsibility for your own learning offers homeschooling book recommendations, resources, information, articles, etc. It includes articles on learning to read, learning foreign languages, socialization research, college entrance, and much more.
  • Danielle Conger, http://danielleconger.organiclearning.org This unschooling mother’s website provides unschooling information, links, etc, with sections on 4-H, arts, field trips, history, language, letterboxing, math, opinions, projects, reading, and science.

Kids' Online Courses: The following courses for kids are available at Suite University.
  • Bullying: What is it and How to Cope, http://www.suite101.com/course.cfm/19244... In this course you will learn all about bullying - what it is, different types of bullying, who bullies, why a bully bullies, and how best to cope with bullying. It will help you learn to cope with the challenge of being bullied and teach you how to react to bullying. This course is recommended for children between the ages of 8 & 12. Parental supervision is advised, but not necessary.
  • Kitchen Safety for Kids, http://www.suite101.com/course.cfm/19315... There are many hazards in the kitchen. If you are between the ages of 8 & 12, this course will educate you on basic kitchen safety, microwave safety, fire extinguishers and how to use them, oven safety, appliance safety, stovetop safety, food safety, using knives etc. This course should be taken with adult supervision because kids will be working with stoves, microwaves and knives. This course is recommended for kids between the ages of 8 & 12, who enjoy working in the kitchen. Parental supervision is advised.
  • Planning and Caring for Your First Garden, http://www.suite101.com/course.cfm/16654... Have you always wanted to have a garden, but you just didn’t know where to begin? This course will teach you how to build a great garden from the ground up. We begin with the foundation of any healthy garden: the soil. Other lessons will cover designing a garden, disease and pest control, maintaining a healthy garden, annual and perennial care, tree and shrub care, growing great veggies, and raised bed or container gardening.

  • F.U.N. News, http://www.unschooling.org/funnews.htm The Family Unschoolers Network provides unschooling articles, product recommendations, etc. It is published on an irregular basis and distributed primarily to FUN Books customers.
  • Rethinking Schools, http://www.rethinkingschools.org/ This magazine founded by activist teachers, focuses on education reform, and nonprofit, independent publishing of educational materials.
