Lesson 1: Who is God?

God is Good

God is Good

God is perfect and pure. God cannot do anything wrong. We can put our trust in Him because He will always want what is best for us. Have you made mistakes before? Sure, you have. We all do. God knew we would do things wrong every so often, but He still loves us. It isn't always easy to say you are sorry for something, but God WILL forgive you.

God is everyone's Father. That's kind of neat. We all have the same Father. Because God created you and me, He is our Father. He takes care of us by giving us clothes to wear, food to eat, and a shelter over our heads.

There is only one God. Some people believe there are many gods. For example, they pray to one god for protection, another god for peace, and yet another god for something else. There is only one true God, and He is the maker of all things.

God wants us to think about Him first. Some people want to be rich, while others want to be famous. Instead of trusting in God, they go after the things they want. Read Exodus 20 to see some special rules that God gave us to follow. These rules will help us live good lives that are pleasing to God.

Maybe one day you wake up and want cereal for breakfast. Then, the next morning you want pancakes. One day you want to play football with your friends. Then, another day you want to play video games with your brother. Boy, we sure change our minds a lot. Do you know that God is faithful? He never changes. The things he told Abraham and Moses long ago are still the same things He tells us today! God knows what is best for us, even when we don't know what to do. His words in the Bible still apply to your life today. Hmm...what will you wear to bed tomorrow night...God already knows!

Remember this verse:

But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, "You are my God." ~ Psalm 31:14
