Lesson 4: Who is Jesus?

A Baby!

A Baby!

So, when Jesus was born in a manger, many people would not believe that this baby could be their Savior. They were waiting for a mighty warrior who would kill their enemies. They thought their Savior would be big and strong. How could a baby protect them? No, Jesus could not be the Savior that would save them. Boy, were they wrong!

Jesus came to earth as a baby. He grew up just like any other child. He had parents. He even had brothers and sisters. He was part of a normal family. The Bible says, "And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men." ~ Luke 2:52. This passage means that Jesus grew up being smart and he grew physically. It also says that Jesus pleased God and people on earth. By the time Jesus was a young man, he began teaching others about God and heaven. He claimed to be their Savior. Many people believed this was true. They saw the miracles that Jesus performed. They heard the parables. They had no trouble believing Jesus was the Son of God.

Others did not believe Jesus was the Savior that had been promised to them. These were the Pharisees; the ones who kept the laws and taught about the Bible. They laughed at his teachings. They made fun of Jesus. They even tried to kill Jesus because they did not like how others were following him around, and not listening to them anymore. I guess you can say they were jealous of Jesus.
