Lesson 2: What is the Bible?

Books of the Bible

Memorizing the Books of the Bible can be a challenge, but also great fun. There are games and songs that you can use to learn the Books of the Bible.

Sing a Song

At the beginning of this lesson section, you can use the sheet of music provided to sing the Books of the Bible. Learning the Books of the Bible through music is a great way to memorize. It is just like singing your favorite song! You can also find the music for this song on the "Scripture Memory Songs" CD by Twin Sisters Productions at ABC Teacher's Outlet.

Do It Day-by-Day

Here is a way to memorize the Books of the Bible in 8 days. You start by memorizing the listed books under Day 1, by repeating them over-and-over again, until you memorize them. The next day, you repeat Day 1, and learn Day 2. Don't stop until you have memorized Days 1 and 2. Then, on Day 3 you will repeat Days 1 and 2, say Day 3 until you memorize it, and build on each day the same way, until you have all 8 days! When you learn them all, go tell your Sunday School teacher!! She will be so impressed.

Play to Memorize

Another way to learn the Books of the Bible is by making yourself some flashcards! Parents can help with this, too! You can print the flashcard template below, and print the Books of the Bible on each flashcard! This is a great way to work as a team to learn them. Simply place your cursor over the picture and select the printer icon that shows up! I have made an example for you, as well.

Variation: Once you have your flashcards made, you can play a game by mixing up the cards and putting them back into proper order. Time yourself! See if you can get them back in their order within 5 minutes...3 minutes...2 minutes. Ready, set, GO!
