Lesson 4: Fire!!!
Fire & Cooking
You have to be very cautious when cooking or a fire can break out. In this section we're going to learn how lessen the chances of fire breaking out when we're creating those delicious meals and snacks. Rules to Follow: Never leave food cooking if you have to leave the room. If the phone rings while you are cooking, let the answering machine pickup and call the person back when you are finished. If the doorbell rings and you feel you must answer it, take all pots and pans off the heat and shut the stove off. Never lay tea towels, oven mitts, or anything else that is flammable on a stove, even if it is shut off at the time. Always keep the oven door shut. Never store a pan of grease or oil, or a deep fryer in the oven. Someone else, who does not know it is there, may turn the oven on. Always clean greasy pots and pans well after using.
