Kitchen Safety for Kids

Lesson 3: Cleaning Up

Invisible Invaders

Germs can easily move around the kitchen on our hands, chopping boards, dish clothes, tea towels, knives and other kitchen utensils and tools.

If germs from uncooked food cross contaminate (get into) cooks or prepared foods, they can make you sick. Good kitchen hygiene is very important, in order to control the spread of germs.

Never serve food that is moldy or has surpassed the expiration date. Foods that have been around too long can contain germs and microbes that can make us ill.
