Can Adults Be Bullies?

Adults have the right to expect that you treat them with respect. On the other hand, they need to treat you with respect as well. Yes, adults can be bullies. It doesn't happen often, but it can happen.

When are adults bullies?

When they call you names such as wimp, or stupid.

When they embarrass you in front of your classmates or friends on numerous occassions.

When they punish you unfairly time after time.

What to do?

Talk to the adult and tell him how you feel.

Tell your parents. Make sure they know exactly what happened. Never exaggerate or lie.

If the adult is bullying you at school, tell your principal. Explain to her what is going on in the classroom. She can observe the interaction between you and adults with them knowing.

Call 911. In the UK, call ChildLine at 0800-1111. This line is for children and young adults who are being bullied.
