Coping with Bullying

Lesson 2: Who is a Bully?

Helping Victims of Bullying

Maybe you are not the one being bullied. Maybe it is a friend, a kid in your class, or a neighborhood child. If you see that someone is being bullied, it is your responsibility to help.

Never ignore bullying. If a bully sees that she can get away with it, she will broaden her scope. In other words, she will begin to pick on more and more kids. You could be one of them.

How to Help?

Never confront a bully or physically try to stop him from shoving, pushing or hitting another kid. This may put you in danger.

TELL immediately! A teacher, principal, parent, or any adult that is nearby can help.

Never participate in bullying. Think of what you might feel like if you were the victim.

Be friendly to the bully. Maybe he is shy or has trouble making friends. This might be the only way he knows how to get attention from his peers.
