Coping with Bullying

Lesson 4: Bullying: How to Cope

What to Do?

If possible, always walk away from a bully. You are NOT the person who is at fault. Seek an adult, go into a store, or call 911.

If a bully is teasing or taunting you, go somewhere else in your mind. It can be to your favorite place, or even in a bank of fog. Use your imagination and you will find that the bully and her words will become distant.

If bullying is repetitive (over and over) be sure to tell an adult. This can be your parents, a teacher, your principal, a Scout or Guide leader, your pastor, a counsellor or a police officer. The most important thing is that you tell someone - anyone who will listen that you feel you can trust. Telling on a bully is not squealing or tattling. It is something you HAVE to do to protect yourself. Being bullied can be a dangerous situation.
