Lesson 2: How to Create the Core of Your Presentation

The heart of your presentation contains the text and images. We will learn how to add text and images. We'll also work on text formatting including numbered and bulleted lists.

Basic Components of a PowerPoint Presentation

Thus far we have learned how to navigate around our PowerPoint presentation and discussed how to find PowerPoint help. Now we’ll get to the bare bones or building blocks of a PowerPoint presentation.

This lesson will cover the basic components of a PowerPoint presentation. We'll also discuss how to modify items in your presentation.

Specifically, the objectives for this lesson include:

1) How to add text to various areas of the presentation.
2) How to create numbered and bulleted lists.
3) How to format the numbers and bullets in the list.
4) How to add clip art to your presentation.
5) How to add images. (photos, internet resources, screenshots)
6) How to modify text font, size, and impact.
7) How to modify images.
8) How to use spell check.
9) How to use the Slide Sorter.

The required reading for this lesson is (Step by Step) Chapters 5, 8, and 9. We have touched on these objectives in previous lessons, but will now go into further detail.

Note: These chapters will be used as a reference and we will not cover everything in these chapters. However, feel free to study the book more in depth for further practice.
