Attracting Hummingbirds

Lesson 2: KEEPING BOTH YOU AND YOUR HUMMERS HAPPY

HOW TO CLEAN FEEDERS

If your feeders are relatively easy to clean, you will be much happier! Without regular cleaning, the feeders can produce mold or fatal fungi. Every three or four days, run hot water through the feeder, and clean it with a bottle brush. Never use soap, but you can use a mixture of water and vinegar if the dirt is stubborn. The best way to get rid of black mold is to soak in water containing a drop or two of bleach. Rinse many times to make sure all of the bleach is gone, and allow the feeder to air dry thoroughly.

Have you found a creative way to clean your feeders? Or do you need help getting your feeders thoroughly clean?
