Bible: 5 Poetic BooksLesson 8: So What's It All Mean, Then?Ideas you'll want to hold onto forever!1. Suffering is a part of life, and sometimes it has a purpose. Think of Job--his suffering tested his faith and ultimately strengthened him and made him an excellent role model for others. He did have to endure much pain to receive that blessing, but think how many have found strength in his story and have kept their faith when their world seemed dark and depressing! Also, remember that however bad a situation may seem, it will pass; it won't remain forever. Though the darkness may last for a night, joy comes in the morning! 2. Find comfort when you need it, in Psalms. Some of the most beautiful phrases you can find are to be discovered here. Avoid the negativity and search out the love, praise and passion, and you will be refreshed in times of need. Start your daily journal with one of these phrases, and watch the entire tone of your day change…for the positive! 3. Be open to good advice, like that found in Proverbs. Only the wisest and the most foolish never change their minds. And remember--there can only be one who is "wisest". What are the chances that the person is you or I? With God around, the chances are zero. There is always something for us to learn; we can be students OF life FOR life! 4. Keep in mind what is truly valuable and meaningful in life--a solid relationship with God. He wants us to connect with Him. He understands how difficult that can sometimes be…and He is STILL there for us. He’s the friend you can count on forever…even after death! 5. Find ways to say "I love you" to keep your relationship refreshed. Don't get so busy in the "day-to-day" that you don't take time for each other. Scrap the routine for a day and go mini-golfing together. Forget the housework for a few hours and go see that movie you’ve been waiting to see. When is the last time you went for a walk through the woods? For a bike ride? Ride your transit system from one end to the other and see what you pass by. You might find a new secret spot for the two of you. 6. Express your love for God or your love for your spouse by using what God has given you. Sing, dance, write, lend a helping hand--just don't be a couch potato. Discover your gifts and use them! Don’t just use them, share them. Don’t just share them; teach them to others so they may do the same. Why keep a good thing to yourself? 7. Remember that the Bible is our guide to life. We ARE born with an instruction manual after all! We are blessed with a creator who has given us the greatest gift--His grace--and another very valuable gift that teaches us all about it: the Holy Bible! There are treasures to be found in this Book of Books—keep searching for them daily.
